The stimulus for Kari Henriksen's work comes from her delight in observing the phenomena
of constantly changing light, atmosphere, seasons and weather
conditions. These elements are transitory and extremely variable,
and for her, the process of making art from these observed changes
provides a means of preserving a moment in time. She describes
her paintings as 'stilled' images of moments that have now passed
Kari Henriksen believes her time spent contemplating and observing the evanescent qualifies of light, atmosphere and weather changes has heightened her awareness of the notion of cyclical change and temporality and affirmed her belief in the importance of connecting with the natural world, for both our physical and psychological well-being.
